Every primary source this publication relies on, in one place. Each entry states the publisher, the date the publisher shows, the date this site last checked it, what it supports here, and what it cannot support.

This is a directory of the sources behind the pages on this site. Following a link takes you to another organisation, under its own terms and its own privacy practices.

Two rules govern this list. An advocacy organisation is never the sole support for a clinical claim. And a search result snippet is never evidence, so every source here has been opened and read.

Sources are monitored on a schedule set out in the methodology. A detected change opens a task for a person. It never edits a page on its own.

Tier 1. Regulators, global health bodies, professional societies, and federal agencies

These are the first place a clinical claim is checked. Where one of these and this site disagree, read the source.

    Patient education for a United States audience. It describes usual practice rather than what any specific clinic offers, and it does not replace the instructions a treating clinician gives.

    A summary written by a professional society for public advocacy. The underlying trial evidence is limited, and that limitation is stated wherever this source is used.

    A clinical guideline written for health systems and providers. It is not a patient instruction sheet, and its recommendations are conditioned on setting, training, and pregnancy duration.

If a link here is broken

Publishers move and retire pages. If a source link fails, the corrections process is the fastest way to get it fixed. Archived copies are kept as a backup, and they are never used as a replacement for a current authoritative page.
